Paleo Diet, Take Two

When I began this blog I knew I could document and record significant improvements attributed to the Paleo Diet. The original purpose of this blog was to keep myself motivated. If it helped a few people lose weight and improve their health, that would be cool.

But the evidence I gathered was so strong it gave me another thought.

Maybe, just maybe my blog could help save a few lives. Now that...would be very cool.

I Stuck to Paleo This Time
I've learned my lesson. Once I lost the 40 pounds on a strict Paleo Diet I didn't go off it. I began eating 85% Paleo foods and 15% of the yummy stuff I can't live without that's restricted on the Paleo Diet.
Does that mean I'm not committed to the Paleo Diet? No, not at all. The leading authorities of the Paleo Diet agree that it's not necessary (or even practical ) to be 100% Paleo. You can be if you want, but you can still reap the benefits of the Paleo Diet with a 85/15 ratio.

Now For The Proof Paleo Works

To keep track of my progress I did two things the minute I got out of bed every morning.

  • I took my blood pressure on the #1 doctor and pharmacist recommended BP Monitor.

Here's What Happened When I Stuck to a Strict Paleo Diet EVERY DAY

MY BLOOD PRESSURE

On December 29th my BP was so high I was in hypertensive crisis. But the only way I knew I was in hypertensive crisis was by taking my blood pressure on my Omron BP monitor. I felt fine. That's why hypertension is called the silent killer.

By January 18th my BP was in the normal range.

You can see my daily BP readings on My BP Page.

 MY WEIGHT

I Lost 40 Pounds in Four Months. That's not record breaking weight loss but it is a healthy pace.

You can see my weekly weight loss on My Weight Page

Sure, I looked better on the outside. People told me how good (much better?) I looked. But, what I, and others could not see, was the incredible changes going on inside my body. That's the really BIG story in this blog.

You can lose 40 pounds on many diets. But I don't believe any other diet can improve a person's health as fast as the Paleo Diet.

Paleo is a detox diet that improves your blood chemistry.

MY BLOOD WORK

In planning for this blog I had my blood work analyzed on December 28, 2015. The results showed eight risk factors out of the normal range.

These risk factors were not little things. They were important life changing (or ending) factors. I was well on my way to developing diabetes, heart disease, and who knows what else.

After losing 40 pounds I had my blood work analyzed again on May 7. I was sure there would be improvements. But I did not expect to get incredible results. All eight risk factors fell within the normal range.

The Paleo Diet detoxed me. It reset my blood chemistry to normal.

Think about it. That's really quite amazing.

Here (drum roll please) are My Labs.

Paleo is a Lifestyle - It's not (Just) a Weight Loss Diet

I've tried many diets and hated them all. I often became discouraged because I was starving all the time and I didn't lose weight fast enough. But the Paleo Diet is the best and "easiest" diet I've ever been on.

I'm not saying it was easy. It wasn't. In fact, it was hard at times. The temptations to cheat were everywhere and constant. I was hungry at times but I lived with it. (get it?) Besides, when you're in the weight loss phase of any diet you better be hungry at times or you're not going to lose weight. Paleo is no different, just easier. What I learned (and you will too) is, the "bad" carbs in the Basic American Diet make you hungry.

I was getting all the carbs I needed on the Paleo Diet. In fact, I had more energy than I've had in years.

The Big Advantages Over Other Diets

  • It works (I'm proof)
  • It detoxes your body
  • It's "easier" than other diets
  • Plenty of good food to eat
  • No calorie counting, measuring, point, etc
  • It suppresses your appetite
  • You have more energy
  • You sleep better
  • It improves your sex life
  • It reduces inflamation
  • It improves your skin
  • You feel better
  • Weight comes off at acceptable rate
  • Acceptable amount of pain and suffering
  • It improves blood levels
  • It lowers your blood pressure
  • It restores your health
  • It improves your sex life (repetition for emphasis)

Thumbs up Taking My Blood Pressure. I Lost 40 Pounds in Four Months and Regained My Health.

Hi - My name is Jack Crowley. In December 2015 I was in bad health. I was in hypertensive crisis and well on my way to developing diabetes and heart disease.

My blood tests showed eight values well above the normal range.

I began a strict Paleo Diet on January 1, 2016.

  • Within a few days I began to feel better than I had in years.
  • After 18 days my blood pressure was normal.
  • By May 2nd I'd lost 40 pounds.
  • My May 7th lab results show all eight blood values in the normal range.
  • My sex life dramatically improved within a few months.

#2 - How much would you pay for it?

#3 - Are you worth it?

So, stop reading here if you expect to find anymore information about waist trimmer belt reviews on this post.

No? Okay, then. Read on if you want to know what a blogger must do to get a decent page rank.

Have you ever wonder why so many blog posts are so long? They often go on and on for thousands when far fewer words would do. There's a simple answer.
Google Rewards Bloggers Who Write Long Content

If I, or any blogger, only writes a few hundred words in a post Google considers it to be "thin" content. Thin content is not worthy content in Google's eyes. For instance, your search for the key words I've chosen for this post,"waist trimmer belt reviews" will be on page 987 of the your search results if I only write a few hundred words.

That's the reason you never see short articles on anyone's blog posting. The writer knows, to show up within the first few pages of results they better use chose the right key words AND write a few thousand words. If a blogger doesn't have much to say on a subject they must still write a thousand or more words to satisfy Google.

I particularly hate reading content that has 2,000 words to make one simple point. Doesn't that just piss you off?

See what I mean? I have to use my key words, waist trimmer belt reviews many times in this post to satisfy Google. Plus write at least a thousand words.

In order to get a decent page rank I have to do a lot more than use the key words, waist trimmer belt reviews sprinkled through this post. But I better not use it too many times or Google will consider it spam and punish me with a high page rank. But I better use, waist trimmer belt reviews in my url, the title of the post, and as a heading title in big text (called H1) at the top of the page. It is also important to use the key words in the first sentence of the first paragraph.
It's Complicated and a Secret

Getting a decent page rank on Google is very difficult. No one outside of Google knows the secret algorithm they use to assign a page rank. (Interesting side note, Page Rank was named after Larry Page, one of the founders of Google.)

Page rank is an algorithm used by Google Search to rank websites in their search engine results. The algorithm weighs more than 200 factors before deciding the page rank of any website or blog posting. Here's a link to Google webpage that explains how it decides which pages to show you. HOW SEARCH WORKS - From Algorithm to Answers.

Google's algorithm is top-secret. But everyone know it starts with matching the key words you use when searching Google. The key words I used for this post are, waist trimmer belt reviews. You probably Googled that, or something close to that, to find my website.

I think I have enough words about waist trimmer belt reviews to satisfy Google.

If you found this posting searching for waist trimmers please let me know what page you found it on. There's an email link on the menu bar.

Thanks,

Determined.

Can You Afford (Not) to Eat The Paleo Diet?

It's a common misconception a Paleo diet is "too" expensive. It's really not more expensive than a regular diet. In fact, it may be less expensive  because you won't be buying beer, wine, soda, milk, cheese, crackers, cookies, pie, cake, bread, ice cream and ultra-processed junk foods loaded with sugar and trans fats. During the weight loss phase of your Paleo Diet you'll likely avoid eating out.

Just think about how much all that adds up to.

It is true, good food is expensive. But a poor diet cost you a lot more.  Poor health and disease is a real bummer, and expensive too. Can you afford not to eat good food?

It's also true organic foods cost more than non organic. But if you can't afford organic that's okay. You don't have to eat organic food to reap the benefits of a Paleo diet. For people on a tight budget I highly recommend Elizabeth McGaw's excellent book, Paleo on a Budget.

The firs two books are written by the "founders" of the Paleo diet.

Dr. Loren Cordain is the "Godfather" of the Paleo Movement. He is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s leading experts on the natural human diet of our Stone Age ancestors. The Paleo Diet is his first book. He has since written many more.

Robb Wolf was a student of Dr. Cordain. His first book on the subject, The Paleo Solution, The Original Human Diet became a #1 New York Times Bestseller. Robb has also written many more books.

They are both great books but Wolf's is better and very entertaining to read.

Excessive fructose consumption has been hypothesized to be a cause of insulin resistance, obesity,[9] elevated LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, leading to metabolic syndrome,[10][11][12] type 2 diabetes,[13] and cardiovascular disease[14]

Paleo is a prefix meaning prehistoric or ancient. The Paleolithic age, also known as the Stone Age, covers an immense time span. Humans evolved into their current morphological form during the latter period of the Paleolithic age.

These ancient people only ate foods they could either hunt or gather. They ate meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. Over the millions of years of evolution their bodies adapted (as in biological adaptation*) to these foods. But, they didn't just survive on these foods, they thrived.

Medical anthropologists (trained forensic scientists) who've studied the remains of these ancient people discovered the cave men were remarkably healthy. They were virtually free of cavities and bone malformations that are common with malnutrition. They showed little to no signs of iron, calcium, or protein deficiency.

It is also highly unlikely that Paleolithic hunter-gatherers were affected by the "diseases of affluence" such as diabetes or coronary heart disease. They ate whole foods and frequently engaged in intense physical activity.

By the way, our genetics are virtually identical to those early human ancestors from more than 120,000 years ago.

So, what happened between then and now?

The single most important event in all human history.

The Agricultural Revolution

The paleolithic age ends with the development of agriculture, the domestication of certain animals.

Believe me, I'm not knocking the agricultural revolution. It has brought great advances to our civilization. That's why it is called, the single most important event in all human history.

But here's the thing. Over millions of years are bodies had adapted and thrived on a fairly simple (yet diverse) diet. And then, in the blink of an eye (in terms of time) our bodies were consuming foods they were not built for. Things like:

Over the millions of years

from the beginning of human existence until around 12,000 years ago.

diet refers to prehistoric (A.ka.a Paleolithic era, and old stone age) times when mankind's diet was limited to what these people could hunt or gather. Their diet consisted of meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds.

There's no evidence they died from (or suffer from) all the diseases so common today. Things like cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and autoimmunity, to name just a few.

These same anthropologist can spot

Today's Paleo diet mimics the diet of those hunter-gatherers. The Paleo diet excludes the foods that came with the agricultural revolution. Things like grains, legumes, dairy products, potatoes, refined salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.

Why? Because anthropologists who studied the remains of these ancient people discovered the cave men were remarkably healthy. There was no evidence they died from (or suffer from) all the diseases so common today. Things like cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and autoimmunity, to name just a few.

But anthropologist

With the advent of agriculture man began eating large amounts  grains, dairy products, processed sugar, alcohol.

Research (examining their dead bodies) shows our Paleolithic ancestors

he Paleo diet attempts to bring our modern day eating habits back to Paleolithic times, when mankind was hunting and gathering rather than grocery shopping. It gets rid of foods that are byproducts of agriculture and industrialization, like wheat, legumes, refined sugar, and dairy. It focuses on meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. These foods put the body in a healthy state that could be the key to helping with modern diseases that come from an unhealthy lifestyle, like obesity, digestive problems, and more.

*Biological adaptation: The process whereby the members of a population become better suit- ed to some feature of their environment through change in a characteristic that affects their survival or reproduction.
